ROYAL SYMPHONY OF REGGAE on jubilee edition of Reggae Sundance

To celebrate the 15th edition Reggae Sundance has put together a spectacular show.

For Saturday August 9th they have contracted the world-famous classical Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra from London (England) for a spectaculair 2,5 hr show.
No less than 25 classic musicians and an 8 piece backing band called the ‘Skool band’ will support 3 outstanding reggae acts in the ‘Royal Symphony of Reggae’.

The chosen artists for this spectacle are first of all the vintage veteran singer  Mr. John Holt, who is one of the inspirations for this project. He will be followed by the man whom we consider to cherish one of Jamaica’s finest live voices, Luciano the Messenjah. And finally we have invited the legendary and without a doubt ‘real voices of UB-40’, Ali Campbell and Astro Wilson!
As far as we know this marriage of great reggae- and classical music has never been done on a reggae festival before, and is a must-see for all reggae lovers and indeed lovers of quality music, but certainly for those who enjoy open air classical concerts as well.

Other performing artists on the line up are a.o.: Shaggy, Alborosie, Beenieman, Tarrus Riley, Busy Signal and Daniel Bambaata Marley (grandson of Bob, son of Ziggy Marley). In total there will be around 35 acts and sounds performing.

On Sunday August 10th they have another special event planned.
Its called ‘YARD BEATZ’ and is a side step to jungle/drum & bass featuring a number of outstanding acts such as Congo Natty and Shy FX. It all goes down in ‘The Yard’ area on our festival grounds.

All in all we are immensely looking forward to this very exciting “Royal” edition of Reggae Sundance. On a stunning new location, but with the renowned and classic Sundance vibes. We hope to see you there to enjoy it all with us!
