Veteran reggae singer Eek-A-Mouse is now a free man.

Eek-A-Mouse, whose real name is Ripton Joseph Hylton, was released from a North Carolina prison in July after his attorney, Phillip Hayes, made a plea deal with assistant District Attorney Lauren Arizaga.

Eek-A-Mouse was arrested earlier this year and charged with face felony rape, felony kidnapping, felony cocaine and misdemeanour marijuanacharges.

He pleaded no contest to two misdemeanour charges — assault on a female and attempted crime against nature.

The reggae star was sentenced to 75 days in prison and was released on time already served.

The charges stemmed from an incident back in 2008 where Eek-A-Mouse allegedly assaulted a female and held her against her will after performing at the Port O’Call venue.

He was arrested by the Kill Devil Hills Police and was released on bond. He later fled the country and was captured in Paraguay last November without a proper visa.

He was extradited back to the United States to stand trial for the charges.

He was initially facing up to 20 years in prison for the charges.
