Living on a small island makes one open and ambitious. No large spaces to shield you from outside influences. No canyons to echo your sound. So you sing your songs to the wind. Nicky B (Born Nicholas Bennet) is young talented and ambitious. Being Jamaican, his music mixes the mystic sensuality of reggae with the smooth foreplay like grooves of R&B and Jazz.
Passionate about making great music Nicky B not only sings but writes his material, he has written for Jamaican acts like Ghost and Elephant man. No stranger to the stage or the recording studio he has done backing vocals for several Jamaican recording artists and has worked as back-up vocalist on stage. Nicky Bs featured performances include opening for Kanye West at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and went on tour in Japan and France. Counted among his influences are the old school sounds of Barrington Levy, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye along with new school artists like Craig David, R Kelly, and Usher. Nicky B is singing in the island breezes, and the world will hear soon.
In february 2011, Nicky B released his first Mixtape Nicky B: “Kingston’s finest” (mixed by Dj Flo – Upliftment Intl)
