Supa Hype

Supa Hype has been behind the mic long enough to earn the “S” on his chest, so it is only natural for this DJ/ Artiste/ Producer/ Songwriter to own his own label and begin to produce the younger talent.

Born August 7th, 1979, his multifaceted career began 1994 as a disc jockey for an uptown sound system called PowerPlay Disco. In 1997 he became a member of Essence Disco, developed his talent as a mic man and disc jockey and began to freelance his skill under the name DJ Superman. In late 2000 or early 2001 he became a member of the infamous Code Red Disco and played alongside the likes of DJ Rush and Master Lee whom he states set the platform for his career as ‘Supa Hype’.

In 2001, he capitalized on the opportunity to become an RETV VJ and as a result the name Supa Hype catapulted into every household in Jamaica. His career as an artiste began with the notorious tune “Welcome to Norbrook” which hit the charts in late 2005. As a young producer, he began working with artistes such as Busy Signal, Ice Cold, Flava Unit and Colly C.
