ONE ROOT – Sunrockers : nine musicians swinging between Roots Reggae from the sixties (The Congos , The Abyssinians , …) and the groove of Reggae from the eighties (Black Uhuru , Steel Pulse , Aswad , …). Most members are from Brussels. In recent years ONE ROOT – Sunrockers has forged itself a name in the Benelux.

An inspired & tight show, two singles with video, a self-produced EP and nearly 100 shows under our belt, both on intimate scenes (for different social active groups) as on the main scenes and festivals in Belgium and the Netherlands (Reggae Geel, Dour Festival, ZwarteKross, to name a few).

We have already produced and distributed a single in January 2013 which is on rotation on radio stations in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, United Kingdom, Romania, Italy, Japan, USA, Canada, Brazil, etc. …. Finally, we are in talks with a label (Rastar Records) to be included in compilations published in the United States and the Caribbean.

But also who are we and who is who in this human adventure?

Formerly known as the “Sun” and “Sunrockers” we met in 2000 in a band called “Black Mystic Erotic ” based on improvisation and composed of 20 artists with multiple musical backgrounds. Four of us shared a passion for Reggae. Drawing from the classic vocal harmonies, often used by Jamaican bands in the 60s and 70s (The Abyssinians, The Congos, The Gladiators, …), our music has never ceased to evolve and is also influenced by various other experiences we had during our respective musical careers, but always with a base of pure Roots Reggae.

In 2011, we released our first video “Holy Land ” which received a good reception from the public, in 2012 a 4 titles EP and most of all we won the “Benelux Reggae Contest”, which was a turning point in the band’s history.

After a tour that takes in most of the major festivals in the Benelux Reggae during the summer of 2012, they renamed it from there “ONE ROOT”
