Wicked Dub Division present their new album Deepest, a tribute to the deep, meaning dub in its essence, enriched by various collaborations and guests. It is the fourth studio work from this Italian band, and the third since the arrival of lead singer Michela Grena (who joined after 2011 debut Wadada for 2015’s Dub Drops and 2016’s Red).

Deepest represents the desire to slow down, to reflect, to move beyond words or images and find oneself in the music: blending the wood of the drums and the pulsation of the bass lines with the sharpest electronics and a determined yet sometimes ethereal female voice.

The band describes it this way: “The sound that it represents is underground and underwater. It’s like the desire to return through the hypnosis of music to a personal dimension, far from the screams of the world, imagining oneself in the ocean floor, searching without fear for a light in the darkness to become part of the flow of music and find ourselves”.

The album release coincides with the new video clip You Can Fly featuring the North East Ska Jazz Orchestra. It’s the next chapter in the two groups’ collaboration after the enormous success of Mama, whose video has exceeded four million views since its release in spring 2017. Some of the musicians and singers from the Italian big band also participate in other tracks on the album, while Dubdadda from Zion Train guests on Protect Me In Dub and French singer Baltimores appears on Heroes Never Give Up. Two remixes, created by Zion Train and Buriman (Moa Anbessa) respectively are also included.

Deepest was recorded at WDD Studio in Treviso, then mixed at Magister Recording Area (Treviso) and at the WDD Studio and mastered by Daniele Antezza at Dadub Studio, Berlin. It is available on all digital platforms and the CD can be purchased at the band’s concerts.
