Positive Thursdays in DUB releases Landing on Planet Dub

Positive Thursdays in DUB is a group of music enthusiasts, but most of all lovers of sonic experimentation and jazz jam improvisation.

It all started in late 2011 as a musical project, which was an extension of the radio show – Positive Thursdays – broadcast continuously since 2006. The need for the moment, as well as a passion for dub, made initially created a project that, with time expanded by new members and as a live act (selector and brass section) play regular concerts. In such form, they functioned almost four years in between organizing such events as Thursday Bass Addicts, Island Bass Addicts, True Bass Addicts or 71Hz Unity, as well as support artists such as legendary British reggae group – Steel Pulse (2013), vocalist of Black Uhuru – Michael Rose (2015) and Etana (2015), the Dutch reggae/dub producer Twilight Circus (2012) and Polish drum’n’bass producer Hatti Vatti (2014).

Also, they toured abroad appearing in Scotland during the Wee Dub Festival in 2014, and Bulgaria Student Camp 2013. In the same year they played live dub session at Radio RAM (Wroclaw) as the first band of this type in the history of this radio. The session was broadcast live directly from the studio, giving birth for RAM Sessions cycle. They come back to Radio RAM to play a special show in 2017 with few special guests. The show was again transmitted live with and the audience also inside the studio. In 2014 they start cooperating with the Ghetto Priest, with whom they play shows in Poland.

2015 is a breakthrough for Positive Thursdays in DUB. It was time to take the next step and so the DJ live act turned into a full-fledged band with musicians who above all value the experiments. Together we went on a journey, looking for our own sound. Intensive work in the studio results in the creation of a new tune. In addition, Ghetto Priest came to Wrocław in 2016 to work with the whole band. The effect of this visit is the document “Rockin ‘In Babylon”, which was created during a studio session. Since then, we have not been slowing down, appearing at various events in the country such as Independent Dub Day (2017), or opening act for popular French band Dub Inc. (2016), but above all, we were focused to prepare our material. The concept album “Landing On Planet DUB” is released now.

The main goal, however, has not been changed – it’s still showing the broad spectrum of reggae and dub, which Wroclaw based group presents in a unique and conscious way.
