The reggae-gospel man who is always on a mission, Derrick Scott, has had an amazing year. 2021 saw him re-sharing a couple of previously released singles: God Answer Prayer and Hello Jesus. Both have enjoyed good rotation on gospel platforms and in some instances, have even crossed over to secular networks.

Such is the case with God Answer Prayer, which is – at the time of this writing – sitting in the #3 spot on New York’s reggae chart and #9 on South Florida’s reggae chart. In addition to Derrick‘s songwriting and vocal skills, the success of this record within the reggae community can also be attributed to Neville Martin‘s My Leader Born Yah, which was a huge hit in Jamaica back in the day. 

Scott re-made the song for his Gospel Truth album by changing the message while keeping the flow. This is also why the official video for God Answer Prayerplaces a lot of emphasis on Jamaica, from the island’s independence to the present day.
