Listening to Reggae – Chili Guys

Miami-based band Chili Guys are set to release “Listening to Reggae,” or as the band calls it, a sun-soaked tribute to the unifying spirit of reggae, with a clear nod to Bob Marley and The Wailers (Let’s hope that sample is cleared). Blending their signature mix of reggae-rock, surf guitar, and feel-good funk, the track captures the vibe of an American stoner beachside jam — laid-back, infectious, and full of heart. As the final single before their new album Chili Island drops on June 17, this one feels like summer in a song.

“This project, Chili Island, is about an island paradise filled with music, good vibes, and endless fun in the sun for our family and friends worldwide! We were inspired by the enjoyment of being out in the sun, out on a boat or a beach, enjoying life and soaking up good vibes with people we love while having fun listening to music. We wanted to capture that feeling and make something for everyone to enjoy and feel like a vacation in tropical settings, or just relaxing on a boat or a beach somewhere. It’s the perfect album to throw on the speakers at a party on a hot summer day outside.” – Chili Guys

Who Are the Chili Guys?

Based in Miami, Chili Guys are a reggae outfit blending roots energy with coastal vibes and a multicultural edge. Formed in 2022 by longtime friends Dr. CheechLyonz, and Mikigai, the group is backed by seasoned musicians, many with Cuban roots, giving their sound a rich and dynamic flavor. With four harmonizing vocalists and a saxophone that cuts through like sea breeze, their music blends classic reggae riffs with Miami heat. Their debut album Love Papa hit #1 on the iTunes Reggae Charts in 2023, and now, with their follow-up project Chili Island dropping summer 2025, featuring singles like Summertime and Beach in Miami, the Chili Guys are carving out a global following with a sound that’s as unifying as it is uplifting.
