One reggae festival we look forward to every year is the Reggae Jam Festival in Germany, not just for the performances, but maybe even more for its laid-back vibe, both on the festival grounds and backstage. It’s that kind of festival where artists connect with fellow musicians, and photographers and journalists can move around freely to talk, shoot, and interview without hassle.

Although security was noticeably tighter this year, it didn’t take away from the good vibes. Same with the weather, heavy rain was expected, but Jah Jah clearly had His eyes on the festival, keeping it mostly dry across the three days.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to shoot all the artists, blame it on the occasional rain, good conversations backstage, and just being in the moment. Still, I’m looking back on a great weekend filled with performances by Zamunda, Marcus Gad, Treesha, Teacha D, Unstoppable Fyah, Teejay, Eesah, Jah Tung, Macka B, Natty King, Chuck Fenda, Kaylan Arnold, Mystic Revealers, I Noah, G Whizz, Nature Ellis, Mortimer, The Rising Suns, Rik Jam, Dalwayne, and Akeem Garrison.

A Big “Danke Schön” to Sheriff and the Reggae Jam crew for the warm hospitality. Hope to be back next year, or maybe I’ll try a different vibe next time. Time will tell.
