Putting her own hometown on the map!! Shuga releases the video of ‘Montego Bay’ , her cover of Bobby Bloom’s “Montego Bay”, flipping this 1970 classic into a warm reggae tribute to the place that shaped her. Produced by Donovan Germain with Dean Fraser on sax, the track, released by VP Records, feels like Shuga claiming her hometown in her own voice. It’s the first single from her upcoming album Girl From Montego Bay, due next spring, and it sets the tone for a project rooted in identity, memory, and the Jamaica she carries with her.
Filmed entirely in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the video accompanies Shuga’s single “Montego Bay,” produced by Donovan Germain and released via VP Records. The song is a reworking of Bobby Bloom’s 1970 classic and serves as the lead single from Shuga’s upcoming debut album Girl From Montego Bay, due in late spring 2026.
Created in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board, the video moves through well-known spots across Jamaica’s “Second City” and reflects Shuga’s early years performing along the north coast hotel circuit. Along the way, it features appearances by artists based in Montego Bay and came together with support from local businesses, community figures, and cultural partners.
