Just like Chronixx, his long-term partner Kelissa has been away from the spotlight for a while, but we are glad she shares her new single “Skyline Rocking” today, March 28, on her Earthstrong. While much of the media attention went to Chronixx and his “return,” Kelissa’s release came in a more low-key way. But World A Reggae is more than glad Kelissa has “returned” too.
The track is a tribute to Skyline in Kingston, the hillside community where she grew up and a place that clearly shaped her connection to music and culture.
The song draws from life in the hills above Kingston, where places like Dub Club and Skyline Levels (founded by Kelissa’s parents, Errol McDonald, and Kerida Scott have become part of the weekly rhythm. Those sessions, with their deep bass and open-air setting, sit quietly underneath the track, not in an obvious way, but in the feeling it carries from start to finish.
Built around a steady reggae groove, “Skyline Rocking” leans on horns to guide the movement, giving the track a warm and familiar direction. It doesn’t try to push anything new, but instead focuses on capturing a moment, a place and a memory. The stillness of the hills, the community around it, and the connection between music and environment all come through in a natural way.
Released on her Earthstrong, the track also marks a personal moment for Kelissa, adding another layer to what already feels like a reflective piece. It’s one of those songs that doesn’t need much explanation, especially for those who know the energy of Skyline and what it represents.
Blessed Earth Strong Kelissa!!
