As you might know by now, World A Reggae is a big supporter of Yaksta’s music from time, especially when on a reggae riddim. So we were delighted to hear this new collaboration with Jah Izrehl, “Fix Di Road.” A powerful roots reggae anthem addressing the everyday struggles faced by Jamaican communities. The song highlights the terribly neglected infrastructure (try driving in Jamaica when you’re there, and it won’t take long before you’re introduced to Jamaica’s pothole “culture”, ask Everaldo “Pukopoo” Creary), social challenges, and the call for accountability from those entrusted with serving the people.
The track comes in both an explicit and a radio edit, which was a good idea since the two singers don’t hold back when it comes to slapping Jamaican politicians and the government on their fingers with this one. Social commentary at its best, another track not meant for the faint-hearted.
