Born in Senegal and now based in New York, Meta Dia returns to Patronaat on Friday, May 30!
His musical journey began at the age of fourteen, performing on the streets and stages of Dakar. Today, the reggae virtuoso—once named “The Future of Reggae Music” by Nat Geo Music—is ready to take over Patronaat once again.
Back in 2000, Meta received praise with his first band, YALLA SUUREN, which was nominated by the French Cultural Center as Best Hip-Hop Group. A year later, after moving to New York, Meta formed his visionary band: Meta and the Cornerstones.
Meta & The Cornerstones is a true melting pot, rooted in diversity, strength, and unity. The band members, hailing from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, bring a fresh spirit to roots reggae. It’s no surprise that critics have described Meta & The Cornerstones’ live performances as a “soul-pounding spiritual experience.”
With the release of their fifth album in April 2025, Meta and the Cornerstones continue to push the boundaries of reggae, carrying a message of global unity. On Friday, May 30, they bring their inspiring sound to Patronaat for an unforgettable night of music and connection!
