Every year after Reggae Month, there’s always that one artist who stands out—the one who keeps popping up at ‘every’ show and leaving a lasting impression. Whether it’s through sheer stage presence or a captivating voice, they linger in my mind long after their performances end. It’s a returning pattern, I had this before with e.g. Jah-Lil, Yaksta, Matthew Malcolm, Khalia, and Last Year it was Joby Jay…
This year, that artist was Sobah. I had noticed her stage presence and voice before as a backing vocalist at the Lost in Time Festival, but I hadn’t yet experienced her solo performance. That changed after her powerful set at the French Embassy, where she performed alongside her father, Lymie Murray—a moment that showcased her talent. Later, seeing her perform at Tuesday Service at the Compound and being one of the sparks of the Island Music Conference, I knew I had to write a short piece on this hardworking lady.
Emerging from a rich musical lineage, Sobah is clearly working hard to make her mark as one of Jamaica’s most promising new reggae artists. Daughter of acclaimed singer Lymie Murray, Sobah is claiming her own space in the industry, blending soulful melodies with heartfelt storytelling.

Her journey into music wasn’t immediate. While she always had a deep connection to reggae, she initially pursued a degree in social work before fully embracing her artistic calling. But with guidance from her father and industry mentors, she soon found herself drawn back to her true passion—music.
After a few other releases like ‘They Say’ and ‘Sinna Dem’ , Sobah really introduced herself to the world with the infectious single “10 Fry Dumplin’,” a song that beautifully captures the essence of love and appreciation through simple, everyday gestures. The track quickly gained attention, not just for its playful lyrics but also for her rich, soulful delivery, which hints at the depth of talent she brings to the reggae scene.
Beyond the studio, Sobah is also building a strong presence online. Through her Instagram (@lovesobah) and live performances, she connects with a growing audience eager to hear more from this fresh, dynamic artist. With her authentic sound, deep roots, and undeniable talent, Sobah is an artist to keep an eye on as she continues her musical journey. I cannot wait to see her on stages worldwide.
