Mellow Mood‘s new single is entitled Home or Abroad and is the second extract off the band’s forthcoming album 7, due in April. After Pull Up, the track released last February featuring Jamaican star Romain Virgo, Mellow Mood have chosen another collaboration with two international reggae music heavyweights to further anticipate their seventh full-length record. In Home or Abroad, the Italian band hosts both Rasta veteran Anthony B and French powerhouse Dub Inc.
The track is featured by a simple riddim, very sparse, but at the same time strong and energizing. The arrangement goes back to basics: drums, bass, guitar and keyboards.
The 5 singers take turns with a raggamuffin style to convey a clear message. In the words of Jacopo Garzia, author of the song: “Wherever we go, our message stays the same. For twenty years our music has been searching for the truth, beyond the constant entertainment with which today’s society bombards us, looking beyond the empty talk of the mass media”. The track reminds us how music can be a means of awareness, resistance, change and evolution. Along with it, true, sincere personal relationships are needed. In the words of Hakim Meridja, singer of Dub Inc, what is proposed is ‘L’énergie comme un antidote/la famille comme un antidote’.
The song is mixed by Paolo Baldini and mastered by Nick Manasseh. The cover was created by Andrea Sifuentes, the Italy-based, Peruvian graphic designer based who has been taking care of the band’s image for a few years now.
Home or Abroad is available on all digital platforms, distributed by Believe Music Italia for La Tempesta Dub.
