A rare calendar coincidence saw the release of two tracks last Friday, both produced by Bost and featuring the legendary Judy Mowatt, a key member of the I-Threes and a powerful artist in her own right. Known for her classic album Black Woman, Judy’s influence remains strong in these new interpretations of her work.
Left side, David Cairol presents Echoes From The Jungle, a deep roots and mystical track where Judy re-sings the melody from her timeless hit, Black Woman. With acoustic guitars and captivating dub elements, the song is part of David’s album Vers(e).
Right side, Hawaiian reggae star Irie Love delivers Organic Woman, a fresh take on Black Woman, transforming its lyrics while staying true to the live-recorded roots riddim. With her next album, produced by Bost, set for release in March, this track offers a glimpse of what’s to come.
Two songs, one legacy—celebrating Judy Mowatt’s enduring influence in reggae music.
