With a deep reverence for roots and message music, UK reggae artist Natty links up with legendary singer Little Roy and influential London-based band The Rasites for the powerful, spiritually charged track “Hurt Not The Earth”, taken from Natty’s latest album The Divine Trinity.
Rooted in consciousness and global awareness, Hurt Not The Earth is a climate anthem with history. The track reimagines Little Roy’s 1978 song into a fresh, undulating arrangement that stays true to its prophetic roots while pushing the message forward. The Rasites provide the live energy and soul that only seasoned roots musicians can bring, while newly recorded vocals from Little Roy pair perfectly with Natty’s fierce, soaring delivery.
But for Natty, this isn’t just a lyrical statement—it’s a way of life. In 2021, he left the London city life behind and relocated with his family to the hills of St. Ann, Jamaica, where they now live off-grid, powered by solar energy and sustained by the food they grow themselves.
“This song is particularly special to me,” Natty shared on his YouTube Channel. “Alongside my family, mother nature is with whom I spend most of my time. Moving out of the city to rural Jamaica has connected me to her beauty and power in ways I could not describe. More than ever I find myself thinking about ways that we can safeguard this planet for future generations.”
That reflection took shape in the studio when Mike “Prince Fatty” Pelanconi suggested adapting Little Roy’s original verses into something new. With Little Roy’s full blessing and the Rasites on board, the song took form—carrying forward a timeless message for a world in urgent need of reconnection.
