Irie Souljah Steps Into Global Consciousness with World Citizen

Spanish-born and Jamaica-grown reggae artist Irie Souljah has released his latest project World Citizen, a ten-track collection that connects roots reggae spirit with an international vision. Out now via Ineffable Records, the album features collaborations with Kabaka Pyramid, Alborosie, MediSun, and Mystic Marley, bringing together voices from across the reggae spectrum.

The title track with Kabaka Pyramid speaks directly to the idea of belonging beyond borders, touching on migration, identity, and the shared human journey. Alborosie joins in Another Way, adding weight to a song about finding hope and resilience in hard times. Other highlights include the opening track Rasta At The Control, the easy-flowing Give Me Reggae Music, and the herb anthem Me & My Weed. Each track carries Irie Souljah’s signature balance of grounded messages and melodic delivery.

Coming a long way since his ‘Immigrant’ album, World Citizen is a reflection of his own path. Born in Spain and rooted in the reggae tradition of Jamaica, his music blends the grit and authenticity of Kingston’s sound system culture with a Mediterranean melodic touch. It is an album built on the belief that birthplace does not define destiny and that culture can be both inherited and chosen.

His journey has taken him on tours with Kabaka Pyramid and Cocoa Tea, and to stages alongside Chronixx and Damian Marley. Recently, the singer graced the stage with his new project The Rising Suns, alongside Matthew Malcolm and Quan Dajai, and rocked the Reggaeland 2025 stage in the UK with Kabaka. Other collaborations have included Jesse Royal, Anthony B, Iya Terra, and Chronic Law. With World Citizen, he continues to expand his reach, currently touring Denmark, Germany, Spain, and Italy.

The production, led by Genís Trani, keeps the sound roots-focused while allowing space for the album’s international spirit to shine. It is reggae stripped to its essentials yet shaped with a global ear, making World Citizen a project that feels both familiar and fresh.
