From July 7–11, 2025, Barcelona will once again host Blacksmoke, the fashion-meets-culture initiative founded by Audrey Jackson, mother of the late Bashar “Pop Smoke” Jackson. The artist had a flair for fashion and a love for design. Set at the Bau, Centre Universitari d’Arts i Disseny, the week-long experience blends fashion, education, and cultural connection, with the unveiling of the brand’s latest capsule collection, Shukrani.
What many might not know: Pop Smoke, the ‘What You know About Love’ singer, was half Jamaican. His Jamaican mother, Ms. Audrey Jackson, proudly carries those roots, and they’re very much at the forefront of Blacksmoke’s mission. The name Shukrani, meaning “gratitude” in Swahili, frames this year’s release as a tribute to Pop Smoke’s memory and the creative power of cultural pride.
Led by Creative Director Javier Valencia, the new collection channels the energy Pop Smoke brought to the world: bold, unfiltered, and globally connected. Alongside the fashion showcase, the week includes student consultations, workshops for emerging designers, and a final runway presentation featuring Blacksmoke pieces alongside local talent.
Having made its mark across New York, Portugal, and Valencia, Blacksmoke’s journey continues to inspire young voices in fashion. Whether on the runway or in the classroom, Audrey Jackson keeps her son’s spirit alive, firmly rooted in the culture that shaped him.
