Press Release: Hawaii’s ‘The Green’ releases new single, Embarks on North American tour

THE GREEN U.S. TOUR AND NEW SINGLE

CHART-TOPPING REGGAE BAND FROM HAWAII EMBARKS ON 30-CITY HEADLINING TOUR

The Green kicked off their 30-city U.S. tour on September 26th in Florida. The Liars & Lovers Tour is currently heading north up the East Coast. The Green’s new single “Liar” was released September 11th on Easy Star Records. This is the first new music from the sextet since its 2011 album, Ways & Means, which spent four-weeks at #1 on Billboard‘s Reggae Chart.

“Liar” was produced and mixed by Christian Mochizuki (Kanye West, Jay-Z) and Matt Honda at Island Sound Studio in Honolulu, HI. The digital only release includes a dubstep-electro remix of the song “Love & Affection” by producer Billy Van. The track offers a taste of what’s to come when Billy Van joins The Green for the West Coast leg of their fall tour.

Quote from bassist and “Liar” co-writer Brad “BW” Watanabe

“The song “Liar” is about being taken advantage of. In our lives we face dishonest people that choose to profit from our work at our loss. We disapprove but know that what goes around comes around. Truth and justice remain the message.”

The Green’s self-titled debut album was named iTunes Best Reggae Album of the Year, and made Billboard‘s 2010 year-end Top 10 Reggae Chart. Shortly after its release, the band began a cycle of heavy touring. Flying to the mainland and traveling the country in support of acts like Rebelution and SOJA, they honed their eclectic blend of reggae and four-part vocal harmonies. After playing all 41 dates of Vans Warped Tour 2012, the Oahu-based group is ready to embark on their first headlining U.S. tour.
