It’s been a minute since we’ve had a full project from Queen Ifrica, but the momentum for Breath of Life is definitely picking up. Today, close to mothers day, she dropped the heartfelt “Mom Like Me,” produced by IAmNuhRush.
After “Lanton” started getting heavy rotation across Europe and the UK earlier this year, this new one takes things in a different direction. It’s not the usual “Mother’s Day” track you hear every year. Ifrica keeps it real, looking at the actual weight mothers carry and the grit it takes to keep a family standing when things get rough.
You can hear that seasoned, roots authority in her voice, she isn’t playing a character here.
The UK seems to be the focus right now, which makes sense with her heading to Brixton for City Splash on May 25th. Seeing her on a lineup with Beres and The Congos is a good look. It’s her first big international show of 2026, and after the response “Lanton” got on the radio, the crowd in London will likely be ready for her.
The album is set for a summer release through Nuh Rush and Tuff Gong, including a title track with Stephen Marley. For now, “Mom Like Me” is out on all platforms. It’s a solid reminder that when it comes to conscious reggae with a message, the “Fyah Mumma” still holds her space.
