The first quarter of 2011 has found one of Jamaica’s fastest rising International sensations in fifth gear driving towards success. 2010 was a break through year for Toi, born Toian Gichie in New Jersey, and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was the year of her debut single release “Sunshine” by Calibur Entertainment which started to pave the way towards a bright future.

Things started to shift into sixth gear when new Reggae Dancehall sensation Konshens recorded a verse to her UIM Records produced single “All Night Party”.

The single hit the R&B Top 40 Charts to Toi’s amazement, and it’s momentum continued across the US, reaching as far as the third spot on the Unsigned Hype Chart in New York City. “Excited is not the word to describe how I felt. No one would have thought that would have been possible, especially after my car accident in 2009, I am truly blessed and grateful to be here today and to live this experience.” Toi states.

The success of the single gave her the nomination to receive the award for Best International Artiste on the Unsigned Hype Chart based in New York. (vote for Toi at: http://micropoll.com/t/KB4fHZBvpU). The success of the single also saw her YouTube channel surpass 37,000 friends/subscribers.

Toi’s meteoric rise sparked the interest of Platinum producer Don Corleon towards the hit single “Love Like This” on the Minor Riddim. Toi continued to impress and her potential was showcased on the FUZE iT Fashion Tour which past through Florida in 2010. Her performance impressed the organizers and they booked Toi to perform on their Las Vegas edition.
Toi shift into another gear with “Whine n Stop” featuring Timberlee, which gave birth to her second UIM Production on the Sanction Riddim. But Toi is showing no signs of stopping as she returned home for a double performance at the recently concluded BritJam Party Weekend from March 8-14, 2011 in Montego Bay. Sharing the stage with the likes of Chevaughn to which she has the collaboration “You’re My Baby”, as well as international platinum rapper Drake, and top flight dancehall artistes such as Bounty Killer, Mavado, Aidonia, and I-Octane to name a few.

“Wow it was amazing! This was my first time on such a major stage and I must say, ‘me shell it down’, haha.” Toi expresses.

Toi will premiere her debut music video for “You’re My Baby” featuring Chevaughn on HypeTV Thursday March 17, 2011 at 7:00pm (EST). The song & video was produced & directed by Calibur Entertainment / Films in Florida, USA.
