Shine on Jamaica by Cherine Anderson nominated for Grammy Award

Shine on Jamaica by singer Cherine Anderson, Jamaica’s Anthem for the Times is featured on the 2011 Grammy-nominated album One Pop Reggae.

The track is produced by reggae icons Sly & Robbie and David Norland,has been widely acclaimed as one of the most prolific and relevant songs in recent reggae history.

According to a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR,Shine on Jamaica was originally featured as one of the leading tracks from Anderson’s EP, The Introduction Dubstyle. The song, written and performed by Anderson, was ahit whichspent an impressive four weeks in the number-one spot on both the New York and South Florida reggae charts and hit many top 10-charts in Europe.

The creatively brilliant video for Shine on Jamaica, which alsofeatures an appearance by Sly Dunbar with his magical drum sticks, is directed by Anderson.

The video tells a compelling story about life in Jamaica and encourages Jamaicans to shine above anyand all negativity. It has also been supported by reggae video charts and programmes as well as online, both at home and abroad. Shine On Jamaica appears on One Pop Reggae, one of two Grammy-nominated albums forSly & Robbie alongside the Taxi Gang this year.

The winners for the 53rd staging of the Grammy Awards will be announced in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on February 11, 2011.
