It’s been 25 years since Patrice released his debut album Ancient Spirit, a record that helped define a new era of reggae-influenced soul music coming out of Europe.
Originally released in 2000, Ancient Spirit featured tracks like Everyday Good, Shine On My Way, and Fear Rules, songs that quickly connected with a generation hungry for conscious music with a raw, emotional edge. One of the standout cuts, Everyday Good, carries a timeless message about the beauty of simply being alive. It’s a song that continues to resonate with longtime listeners and new fans alike.
To mark the anniversary, Patrice Babatunde Bart-Williams is releasing a limited vinyl edition of Ancient Spirit, along with a reissue of his 2005 album Nile. Both are available now for preorder via Supow Music.
In a short reflection shared online, Patrice revisits the early days of the album and the intention behind Everyday Good, offering fans a glimpse into how it all started.
