Arqane Builds a Strong Link with Sierra Leone on “Salone Sweet”

A connection that started on stage now turns into a full-circle moment with “Salone Sweet,” the new release from Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall artist Arqane aka Tycoon. The track, produced by EchoSlim and Dbeatzz, was created with a different purpose in mind, but has since grown into something much bigger.

Built on a steady riddim by Dbeatzz, with EchoSlim adding his touch, “Salone Sweet” carries a warm and melodic direction, supported by Shavanique’s beautiful background vocals. Arqane uses the track as a tribute to the women of Sierra Leone, but the song has been embraced on a wider level, even being recognized within the country’s cultural and tourism space.

The story behind the release goes back to Arqane’s visit to Sierra Leone in 2025, where he performed at the One Nation Reggae Festival alongside names like Sizzla, Christopher Martin and Queen Ifrica. That visit clearly left its mark, not just musically but personally, leading to a deeper connection with the country and its people.

Since then, Arqane has returned to Sierra Leone to build on that relationship. Together with Leonus the Genius, he launched the Tycoon & Friends: Children Have a Voice initiative, a series of school visits focused on introducing young people to songwriting and music production. Supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the program gave students a chance to explore their own creativity and voice.

“Salone Sweet” sits right in the middle of that journey. It reflects not just a visit, but an ongoing exchange between the Caribbean and West Africa, where music becomes the bridge.

Arqane is expected to return to Sierra Leone later this year for the second staging of the One Nation Reggae Festival, continuing a connection that is clearly still growing.
