Reggae legend Mykal Rose teams up with The 18th Parallel and Topp Brass for a brand-new single, “Rain And Blood.” Set for release on March 7th, this hard-hitting roots-meets-early-digital reggae track channels the raw energy of classic Black Uhuru while delivering a timely message.
40 years after leaving Black Uhuru, Mykal Rose still carries that unmistakable fire. “Rain And Blood” echoes the heavy vibes of a Sly & Robbie-produced era, with a 1986 proto-digital feel that blends early dancehall, roots, and modern production. The riddim, crafted by Swiss powerhouse The 18th Parallel, features none other than the legendary Robbie Shakespeare on bass—one of his final recordings before his passing.
The song was written in response to the devastating floods that hit the USA in 2023, carrying a deep lyrical weight that resonates in today’s world. With Topp Brass bringing some of Jamaica’s finest horn work into the mix, this one is set to shake sound systems worldwide. The 7″ vinyl will be available on March 7, 2025
