The Queen of the Pack Returns: Patra Links Up With JHOUSE & Sony Music for Summer release

When talking about the foundation of 90s dancehall and the women who paved the way on a global scale, Patra has always been at the top of the conversation. The “Queen of the Pack” has been quiet on the release front for a minute, but she is putting the pieces in place for a serious return this summer.

Word just came down that Patra has locked in a major global distribution deal for her label, +Plus Entertainment Inc. She is partnering up with Freddy Browne’s JHOUSE Entertainment, routing her music worldwide through The Orchard and Sony Music.

This isn’t just a standard corporate link-up for the singer. Patra made it clear that she wanted to work with Browne because of a long-standing trust, stating that the move gives her full control over her career while allowing her to run her own imprint. For an artist who reached the highest levels of the international majors back in the day, she mentions that this new setup has actually given her back some faith in the music industry. She currently finds herself in a space where she can handle her own business while keeping her creative expression intact.

For Freddy Browne, the link-up is a full-circle moment too. When he started the JHOUSE camp, Patra was the first artist out of Jamaica he wanted to pull into the fold.

Fortunately, a little bird told World A Reggae that we won’t have to wait too long to hear what they’ve been working on. The first single under this new deal is hitting the airwaves this summer, also marking the start of new tours. On top of that, Patra is set to feature on a second track and music video for the upcoming JHOUSE Vol. 1 album, marking the fifth single from that project.

It is good to see the queen of the pack getting her structures right, and bringing back the sound that defined my twenties into the arena on her own terms. We will be keeping an ear out for those banging new summer releases! Patra is available for bookings now!
