Jamaican reggae-soul empress and Grammy Award nominee Etana has released the first official video from her upcoming untitled album. The colorful “Truly” visuals premiered on leading international reggae and dancehall outlet Boomshots, who gushed “as Etana lets her voice fly over a warm and easy lovers rock groove, the result is magic,” and went on to say “the visuals match the vibe perfectly.”
The “Truly” single was produced by Barbwiya Music. The naturally stylized video, filmed at several undisclosed locations on Etana’s lush island of Jamaica, was directed by Krys Ras and Prof.
“Shooting the video was fun,” Etana revealed to Boomshots. “At first I thought that some of the images were unattainable in Jamaica. Not that we don’t have beautiful spots, but the tree with yellow flowers on the ground just didn’t look like it was in Jamaica. When I got to the spot, I fell in love. The flowers were yellow and beautiful. Though it rained all day, we managed to shoot in between. We shared a lot of laughs and the whole crew was young and full of positive energy. It’s as if it didn’t rain, it was effortless with all the passion and love the video needed.”
Of the new single (released earlier this month via Freemind Music / Zojak World Wide), the Billboard Reggae chart-topping songstress told Boomshots “Truly’ was written to inspire more strength in love. This one was done in a way that reminds me of the ‘stay real close love.’ ‘Truly’ takes my mind in a place where love is deep and sweet.”
