Micah Shemaiah releases “Natural is The Mystic” Album on JahSolidRock label

One of the albums we were definitely waiting for is this one: Micah Shemaiah’s latest body of work, Natural Is The Mystic. We were not only waiting for Micah’s new songs, but also for the Dutch magic touch of JahSolidRock’s production team. The album carries ten tracks, including some pre-released songs such as “When Yuh Right,” “Not For Sale,” and “Strictly Rub-A-Dub.” It is also worth noting that alongside original riddims like Geoffrey Chung’s “Dubbing Is A Must,” other riddims are loosely based on classics such as Bunny Wailer’s “Rastaman.”

Another Dutch touch comes from two riddims created by Dutch-Surinamese artist Rapha Pico for “Mellow Mood” and “Artificially.” For “Glory,” a track alongside Telford Nelson, an original riddim was used.

Just like Micah’s previous albums, this release will not disappoint lovers of the Rockers and Roots genres. The strength of the album also lies in the fact that all songs are performed by real musicians. The list is noteworthy, featuring Kirk “Kirkledove” Bennett on drums, Jason Welsh on bass, Garth “Duckie” Forester (R.I.P.) on guitar, Andrew “Stringy” Marsh on piano and Hammond organ, Hector “Roots Percussionist” Lewis on percussion, Dean Fraser on saxophone, Hornsman Coyote, Vivaldo “Binghi” Brown on Nayabinghi drums, Markus Hillman, Dub Wizard Jallanzo, and backing vocals by the late Dalton Browne (R.I.P.) and Telford Nelson.

We suggest you play some Micah today, and if you haven’t yet, also dive into his earlier albums, as Micah continues to fight Babylon on the frontline with solid roots music.
