Today, March 18th, West London Reggae veteran Mr. Williamz unveils a new linkup with legendary UK producer, artist and scene icon Shy FX, switching up the tempo to deliver box-fresh 174 steppers ‘SoundKilla PT.2’. After collaborating twice on Shy’s last album – Raggamuffin Soundtape – they team up again to maximum effect, bringing through a carnival-primed Drum & Bass weapon that’s packed full of flavour, diversity and rolling magic.
Lining up as the must-hear Drum & Bass release of the spring/summer, the acclaimed pairing has brought some much-needed sunlight to the recent dreary proceedings with this stellar new take on ‘SoundKilla’, originally released on Mr. Williamz’s reggae and dancehall opus ‘SoundKilla Mindset’ which dropped in May last year to roaring success.
That album-leading cut, featuring grime stalwart Footsie and foundational Dancehall lynchpin Specialist Moss, was a firm favourite, and their propensity for Soundsystem-pulsing workouts is built on in full via this scintillating new outing. With the masterful Shy FX in the driving seat, ‘SoundKilla PT.2’ wholly compliments what made the original Reggae lick so special, whilst carving out a fresh trajectory for listeners, ravers and partygoers alike.
With Mr Williamz and Specialist Moss’ supreme lyrical stylings on full show, those liquid groove-filled DnB rhythmics roll out to the max, paired with Dancehall-infused stabs, powerful, driving subs and expert junglist sampling. This is a ready-made, high-octane carnival anthem of the highest calibre.
Continuing their fruitful musical partnership, ‘SoundKilla PT.2’ marks yet another standout collaboration from Mr. Williamz and Shy FX, following the releases of ‘Badboy Business’ (w/Kate Stewart), ‘Raggamuffin’ and ‘Kings Highway’ (w/ Breakage), and here they deliver a brand-new hit to add to that collection.
Having already cemented himself as one of the UK’s most prolific and well-regarded Reggae artists, Mr. Williamz is a sound system icon who’s recognised as one of the most authentic figures around, working and performing with the likes of Major Lazer, Damian Marley, Chronixx, Mungo’s Hifi, Topcat, Supercat, Gappy Ranks, Stephen Marley, Big Zeeks, Green Lion Crew and many more, establishing him at the very forefront of the sound in the process.
He also recently made his acting debut in the Idris Elba-directed feature-length film “Yardie”, and has picked up widespread radio support from a plethora of tastemakers including David Rodgian, Ras Kwame, Toddla T, Robbo Ranx and Daddy Ernie, with additional press coverage across NME, Clash and Reggaeville.
With a firm foothold already in the multi-pronged Drum & Bass, Jungle and UK Bass scenes, Mr. Williamz is moving forward at an unrelenting pace, with a fully-fledged new album project on the horizon.
